Saturday morning, President Joe Biden was riding his bicycle near his home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, where he and his wife are celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary.
The president assured the journalists who witnessed his fall, which occurred at 9:30 a.m., “I’m fine.”
Biden said to reporters that he had difficulty removing his shoes from the bicycle pedals, which led to his collapse.
The president had approached a gathering that had formed near the Gordon’s Pond State Park bike track, with many shouting “Happy Father’s Day” to him.
As he attempted to disembark the bicycle, his shoes became entangled and he fell to the side, sparking a wild dash of Secret Service agents and reporters to assist him.
Biden, 79, remained on the ground for around 10 seconds before being helped up by three Secret Service agents, who promptly surrounded the fallen Democrat.
Moments afterwards, Biden was greeting the audience, even inviting one woman out to see the nearby-being-walked first dog Commander.
Despite the fall, the president, who was dressed in shorts and a T-shirt for the outing, did not appear to have sustained any abrasions or cuts.
First Lady Jill Biden, who joined her husband after he completed his initial circuit of reporters, missed the tumble because she sped ahead of the president.
